How to update the ticket hold time for attendees?

When attendees register for your event, they may need a few minutes to fill out the checkout form and complete the payment. During this process, tickets are temporarily held for the registrant to ensure they are reserved. The ticket hold time determines how long tickets are held in the registrant's cart before they are released back into the available pool for other buyers.

Depending on your event’s requirements, you may want to adjust this ticket hold time to better suit your needs—whether to provide attendees with more time to complete the registration or to keep tickets available for other buyers if an attendee doesn't complete their purchase within a certain timeframe.

This article will guide you through the process of updating the ticket hold time for your event.

The default registration time-out is 15 minutes, but this can be adjusted to suit your event's needs.

Why update the Registration time-out?

Changing the ticket hold time can be beneficial in various situations:

Longer hold time: If your event requires more detailed information or a longer checkout process, increasing the hold time gives attendees more flexibility to complete their registration without losing their tickets.

Shorter hold time: For high-demand events, you may want to shorten the ticket hold time to reduce the chance of tickets being held up by incomplete registrations.

Impact on Registrants: If an attendee does not complete the registration within the specified time, they will need to go back to the event page and start the registration process again. This could result in a potential delay, especially if the tickets are in high demand.

Steps to update the ticket hold time for your event?

Follow these simple steps to adjust the ticket hold time for your event:

Start by logging into your acount and go to Event > Registration , Click on Ticket/Registration. This is where you can set various options related to your event's tickets, including ticket hold time and registration time-out settings.

Scroll down until you find the Registration Time-out (optional) setting. This setting allows you to control how long tickets will be held in the cart while the registrant fills out the checkout form.

In the Registration Time-out field, you can enter the amount of time (in minutes) you want tickets to be held for the registrant.

For example, if you want tickets to be held for 30 minutes, simply enter 30 in the field.

After entering your desired time-out duration, click on Save Changes to apply the updated ticket hold time. The new time-out setting will now be in effect for your event

What happens when the time-out limit is reached?

Ticket release: If the registrant does not complete the payment process within the designated time frame, the ticket will be released and made available for other potential buyers.
