How to Collect Cash Payments for Your Event
Eventzilla offers a flexible payment option called Cash/Pay at the Door, which allows event organizers to collect payments directly from attendees. This is particularly useful for offline or on-site transactions. Below, we’ll explain how this feature works, the options available, and important notes to keep in mind when using this payment method.
Eventzilla does not confirm, process, or guarantee payments for attendees who choose the Cash/Pay at the Door option. It is entirely your responsibility to collect payments from attendees.
What is Cash/Pay at the door?
Cash/Pay at the Door is an offline payment option that enables event organizers to collect payments directly from attendees, either during on-site registration or as part of the online registration process. When this option is enabled, attendees can register for your event without making an immediate online payment. Instead, they commit to paying you directly, either at the event venue or through an offline arrangement.
If you enable this option for online registration, you acknowledge that you are solely responsible for collecting payments directly from your attendees. Eventzilla does not handle or guarantee the collection of these payments. Attendees will receive a confirmed ticket immediately after registration, regardless of whether they have paid.
Steps to enable pay at door option
If you’ve already created your event and want to add or modify the Pay at the door option, follow these steps:
Log in to your Eventzilla account and navigate to the dashboard of the event you want to edit.
Under Set Up - Payment Methods.
Scroll down to the Offline Payments section.
Toggle the switch to enable Pay at the Door if it’s not already enabled.
Check the appropriate options based on your requirements:
- Accept payments at the door for on-site sales (for Box Office Mode).
- Accept payments at the door for online registrations (for online registrations).
- Save Your Changes
Your event will now reflect the updated payment options.
Attendees will receive a confirmed ticket immediately after registration, even if they haven’t paid yet. Ensure you have a system in place to track and collect payments.
Two ways to configure cash payments for your event
Accept payments at the door for on-site sales
This option is designed for on-site registrations and is only available in Box office mode. Here’s how it works:
The Cash/Pay at the door option will appear exclusively in the Box office mode of your Eventzilla account.
It is accessible in the Add more attendees section during on-site registration and through the Organizer app with On-site sales only access.
This option is not available for online registrations.
This is ideal for events where attendees register and pay in person at the venue. For example, if you’re hosting a conference or workshop and want to allow last-minute registrations at the door, this option ensures you can collect payments directly.
Accept Payments at the door for online registrations
When enabled, attendees will see a Pay at the event option during the online registration process.
If an attendee selects this option, their order will be confirmed immediately, and they will receive a ticket. As the organizer, you are responsible for collecting the payment directly from the attendee at the event.
This is useful if you want to allow attendees to reserve their spot online but pay later, such as for community events, fundraisers, or local meetups.
By enabling the Cash/Pay at the Door option, you can offer flexibility to your attendees while maintaining control over your event’s payment process. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please contact Eventzilla support for help.
