Creating group discounts for bulk ticket purchases

Group discounts are an excellent way to incentivize attendees to purchase tickets in larger quantities, helping event managers increase ticket sales while offering attractive price reductions for group buyers. Group discounts are seamlessly integrated within the ticketing process, making them easy to apply for larger orders.

Why offer group discounts?

Do you want to encourage attendees to purchase multiple tickets at once by offering a lower price per ticket for groups of a certain size?

You can set up group discount pricing directly within the ticket options, allowing you to easily reward bulk purchases.

Group discounts work by automatically applying a lower rate when attendees buy more than a specified number of tickets. This method not only boosts sales but also simplifies the pricing process for both organizers and attendees.

Group discounts only apply if the user purchases tickets in bulk within the same ticket type. Group discounts do not work across multiple ticket categories.

Steps to add group discounts for ticket categories

Create a new ticket type (or edit an existing one)

Start by creating a ticket or registration type for your event. Please click here for the steps to add a ticket type

Access advanced ticket options

Once you've reached the ticket creation screen, scroll down and click on "View advanced options."

Enable group discounts

Look for the option labeled "Group discount (optional)" and toggle it on.

Set the group size for discount

Specify the minimum number of tickets that need to be purchased for the group discount to apply. For example, if you want the discount to apply when 5 or more tickets are bought, enter "5."

Define the discount value

Enter the discount amount that will be applied. You can choose between two types of discounts:

Fixed price discount: Apply a fixed dollar amount off the total ticket price.

Let’s say your ticket is priced at $50, and you want to offer a $10 discount when attendees purchase 5 or more tickets. Here’s how the discount works:

  • Regular total for 5 tickets: $50 x 5 = $250
  • Discount applied: $10 off the total order
  • Final price: $250 - $10 = $240

Percentage discount: Apply a percentage discount off the total price.

If your ticket is priced at $50 and you offer a 10% discount for groups of 5 or more, the calculation would look like this:

  • Regular total for 5 tickets: $50 x 5 = $250
  • Discount applied: 10% of $250 = $25 off the total
  • Final price: $250 - $25 = $225

Choose between fixed amount or percentage

Select whether you want the discount to be a fixed price reduction or a percentage of the total order.

Group discounts are great option to promote ticket sales for your events. When people purchase in groups, you sell tickets faster and they get a special discount in return for purchasing together.
