How to accept donations for your event?
If you're hosting an event and wish to accept donations from attendees, We make it easy to create a donation-based ticket type. This option allows you to set a minimum donation amount while giving attendees the flexibility to donate more if they choose. Here’s how you can create a donation ticket type for your event:
At present, it is possible to create only one donation category per event
Steps to create a donation ticket type
Navigate to Registration > Ticket/Registration
Start by logging into your account. You can either create a new event or edit an existing event to add the donation ticket type. While on the event creation or edit event setup page, locate the "Registration" section, then click on the "Ticket/Registration" tab.
Select "Donation" ticket type
On the "Ticket/Registration" page, click on "Donation" option from the available ticket types.
Enter the ticket title
Provide a title for the donation ticket, such as "Support Our Cause" or "Event Donation".
Update the ticket description (optional)
You can include a description for the donation ticket. For example, you might explain how the donations will be used or encourage attendees to contribute generously.
Set the available quantity
If applicable, set a limit for the number of donation tickets available. If you want unlimited donations, you can leave this field blank or enter a high quantity.
Specify the minimum donation amount
Unlike paid tickets, donation tickets allow attendees to contribute any amount above a specified minimum. Enter the minimum amount that you would like to accept for donations. Attendees can then choose to donate more than this minimum amount.
Define the sale period
Set the start and end dates for when the donation ticket will be available. Ensure that this sale period aligns with your event timeline and marketing efforts.
Add instructions (optional)
You can provide additional instructions that will be printed on the ticket or receipt. This could include messages of thanks or further details about how the donations will be utilized.
Onsite sales only (optional)
If you wish to make this donation ticket available only for onsite sales (e.g., at the event venue), check the corresponding option. This is useful if you're only accepting donations in person rather than during online registration.
Save
Once you’ve filled in the necessary details, save the donation ticket. If your event is ready, publish it to start accepting donations.
The donation ticket type is classified as a paid ticket, and the Eventzilla processing fee remains consistent for the donation category, similar to any other paid ticket.
By following these steps, you can easily add a donation ticket type to your event and start accepting contributions from your attendees.
