How do I make my event private?
If you want to keep your event exclusive and restrict access to a select group of people, you can create a passcode-protected event. This option is ideal for private events where you don’t want the general public to discover or register for your event. Instead, only those with the designated invite code will be able to access the event registration page.
Why use a passcode-protected Event?
Passcode-protected events are particularly useful when:
- You want to host an exclusive event for members, sponsors, VIPs, or any specific audience.
- You wish to prevent the public from discovering your event and restrict access to only those you invite.
You want to offer a secure and private registration experience for your attendees.
Steps to create a private, passcode-protected event
Navigate to event setup:
Begin by logging into your account and selecting the event you wish to make private. Then, go to Setup > event details.
Select 'Invite Only' option:
Under the event details, select the option labelled "Invite only event."
Enter an invite code:
You will now see a text box labelled Event Invite Code. Here, enter a unique and secure invite code of your choice.
The invite code you specify is case-sensitive, meaning attendees must enter it exactly as you’ve written it (e.g., "Event2024" is different from "event2024").
Multiple Private Events: If you're hosting several private events, ensure that each has a unique invite code to maintain separate access for different groups.
Save your settings:
Once you’ve entered the invite code, save your changes. Your event is now passcode-protected, meaning only people with this invite code can access your event registration page.
How attendees access a passcode-protected event?
When attendees try to access the event’s URL, they will encounter a screen asking for the invite code. The prompt will read:
“Please enter below, the secure invite code provided to you by the event organizer in order to proceed.”
Enter the invite code:
Attendees must enter the correct invite code into the text box.
Click 'Proceed':
After entering the code, attendees will click the "Proceed" button. If the code is correct, they will gain access to the event registration page.
Complete registration:
Once they have access, attendees can view event details and register for tickets as usual.
If the invite code is incorrect, the attendee will not be able to proceed. This feature ensures that only invited guests can register for your private event, offering a secure and controlled environment.
