How to delete an event?
Deleting an event from your account is a permanent action. This option is typically used in situations where an event was created by mistake, is a duplicate, or is no longer needed.
Deleting an event will permanently remove the event and all associated attendee information from your account. This action cannot be undone.
When to delete an event?
Deleting an event is applicable in the following scenarios:
Mistakenly created event
If you accidentally created an event that you do not intend to use, deleting it ensures that it doesn’t clutter your account or confuse your team.
Duplicate event
If you have unintentionally created multiple instances of the same event, you may want to delete the duplicates to avoid confusion and ensure that your attendees register for the correct event.
Event no longer needed
If an event is canceled or has been replaced with a different one, and you no longer need it listed in your account.
Steps to delete an event
Log in to account
Start by logging into your account.
Access the event dashboard
Navigate to the "My events" page of your account where the event you wish to delete is listed. Ensure that this is the correct event, as deletion is irreversible.
Review event orders
Before proceeding with deletion, check if there are any existing orders or registrations associated with the event. If there are, consider whether you need to take any action such as refunding attendees or transferring them to another event.
Delete the event
Click on the gear icon next to the event.
From the options provided, click on "Delete" to remove the event
Consequences of deleting an event
Permanent removal
Once deleted, the event is permanently removed from your account, including all associated data such as orders, attendee lists, and reports.
Impact on attendees
If the event has attendees registered, ensure you communicate with them before deleting the event. Consider processing any necessary refunds/cancellations or providing alternative solutions.
Best practices
Backup data
Before deleting an event, consider exporting any important data, such as attendee lists or reports, for your records if your event has any registrations.
Communicate with attendees
If the event had registrations, inform your attendees about the event’s deletion and any next steps they need to take.
Consider unpublish the event
If there’s any chance you might need to reference the event in the future, unpublishing it rather than deleting could be a safer option. If you’re unsure about deleting the event or may need to restore it in the future, consider unpublishing it instead. This will remove the event from public view without permanently deleting it.
